The OCR Nationals have been designed to provide students with high quality, industry recognised
qualifications geared to the specific requirements of key sectors.

The OCR National Certificate in Travel and Tourism has been developed to recognise candidate’s
skills, knowledge and understanding of Travel and Tourism activities, environments and
operations.

They have been designed to accredit students achievements in a modern and practical way that is
relevant to the work place.

Six Units – equivalent to 4 GCSE passes ( A* - C)

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements but 2/3 GCSEs at Grades D – E and a recommendation from
your Head of Year and Class Tutor

Course Content

Mandatory Units
• Unit 1 – Exploring Travel and Tourism
• Unit 2 – Dealing with customers in Travel and Tourism
• Unit 3 – Investigating tourist destination
• Unit 4 – Promoting Travel and Tourism
Two Optional Units
• Unit 5 – Investigating visitor attractions
• Unit 8 – Exploring hospitality in Travel and Tourism

Assessment and Grading

All units are centre assessed and externally moderated by OCR. There are no timetabled
examinations for this qualification. Students may complete units at a time that is decided by
the teaching staff. All units are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

What career will the course prepare me for?

The course will prepare you for one of sectors of the Travel and Tourism industry – accommodations, retail travel, visitor attractions etc… or entry to a Level 3 course.
